Polyurethane (PU) Coatings for Wear Protection
Polyurethane (PU) Coatings for Wear Protection
Our polyurethane (PU) coatings provide high abrasion, impact and cut resistance for components exposed to heavy wear. GBT applies cast or sprayed PU on steel, rubber and other substrates, for example on chutes, hoppers, screens, rollers or drums. The coatings reduce noise, protect against corrosion and extend service life, even in wet, sticky or highly abrasive material flows.

Rubber wear protection
Rubber wear protection is an optimal surface protection for machines and installations. It is particularly suitable for lining bins, hoppers, chutes, channels and silos in bulk material handling.

Rubber wear protection
Key benefits of rubber lining:
- Protection of equipment against abrasive wear
- Increased service life and reduced maintenance
- Noise reduction in loading and transfer areas
- Reduced material build-up and stickiness
- Resistance to certain acids and chemicals
- Effective corrosion protection for steel structures
Linatex® / natural rubber
Linatex® / natural rubber provides excellent elastic properties for combined wear and corrosion protection. It is especially suitable for lining cyclones, pipes, elbows, pump housings, sleeves and expansion joints. Linatex® is supplied as sheets or rolls in various grades, including versions approved for food applications or for use with oils and chemicals in industrial plants.
Typical applications of Linatex® / natural rubber:
- Wet wear zones and slurry handling
- Impact and noise protection in transfer points
- Coating of conveyor belts and drive belts
- Production of gaskets and sealing elements
Polyethylene linings
In loading and processing of bulk materials, material build-up in tippers, buckets, chutes and storage areas often leads to manual cleaning and unplanned downtime. Our fitters install polyethylene sheets as thin plates on buckets, tippers, skips, chutes and hoppers and weld them on site to form seamless, joint-free linings.
Properties of polyethylene-lined equipment:
- Very good sliding behaviour and reduced material sticking
- Good abrasion resistance in bulk handling
- Prevention of cross-contamination during product change
- Individual adaptation to geometry and fugenless lining solutions
Teflon™ (PTFE) linings
Teflon™ (PTFE) linings are used where a continuous, trouble-free material flow is required and adhesion must be avoided. By using PTFE, stoppages due to build-up, caking or freezing of product on surfaces are significantly reduced.
Characteristics of Teflon™ (PTFE):
- High resistance to chemicals such as acids, alkalis, oils and salts
- Extremely low friction and excellent non-stick performance
- Frost resistance for low-temperature environments
- Water-repellent surface, minimizing moisture-related build-up
